A complete set with the rare 6th volume by Ch. Aubé. "The great enterprice was the 'Spécies Général des Coléoptères (1825-1838). Dejean's original plan was to describe, in this work, the world fauna of Coleoptera, but this was soon changed to the more limited aim of the species of his own collection. Twenty volumes were foreseen but, as it turned out, only six appeared; the last of which, containing the 'Hydrocanthares', was written by C. Aubé (1802-1869). Dejean was the author of the five other volumes, entirely devoted to the Carabidae (s.l.); they contained close to 3000 pages in all, a masterpiece in descriptive entomology" (Smith, R.F. and others, History of Entomology p. 127).Volume 4 is bound in 2 volumes. Two old stamps on titles of 5 volumes.
