A fine copy of the rare first edition with 49 fine lithographed plates by G. Severeyns. The work was also publised as vol. xvii of the 'Mémoires couronnés de l'Académie Royale des Sciences de Belgique', but only with 15 plates. Pierre Henri Nyst was co-founder of the Paleontological Society of Belgium and published on fossil shells. A beautifully produced work.
