Second edition. Apart from the title identical to the first edition of 1820. "While Redouté in his famous work treats specially the double Roses of the garden Lindley has left them entirely out of consideration adding only in an appendix the most remarkable garden varieties systematically arranged. Nevertheless 78 pure natural species are described" (Junk, Rara I, 18). Apart from one all plates are after drawings by the author. The work is a remarkable achievement for a botanist aged only 22.
