The beautifully engraved plates show among others numerous exotic and bulbous plants

The work was issued with plain or coloured plates. The beautifully engraved plates show among others numerous exotic and bulbous plants. Leopold Trattinnick was the first curator of the botanical Court Cabinet, founded by Francis I, Emperor of Austria. He was a member of a prosperous family and had the means to publish over a period of decades expensive botanical works without regard to costs. The plates of the present work were taken from Trattinnik's never finished 'Archiv der Gewächskunde' for which he had prepared some 800 plates, but which were for the greater part not used for that work. A copy without any foxing to the plates.
