Additional Japanese and Dutch title at the beginning and at the end. Original paper wrappers, with printed label in Japanese on frontcover, bound in the Japanese manner.
The present work is the rare first edition of the first syntax of the Dutch language printed in Japan
Text entirely executed in woodcut, printed on Japanese rice paper. Included is a letter of the librarian of the 'Ministerie van Kolonien', saying that the book had been part of their library but was sold in 1895 to the The Hague firm Nijhoff. The text of the Dutch edition was first written out by hand and than engraved in relief. The present work is the rare first edition of the first syntax of the Dutch language printed in Japan. Mitsukuri Genpo was one of the well known Dutch scholars, rangakusha, who introduced through Dutch studies Western learning to Japan.
