The excellent plates were engraved by J.S. Capieux, an artist of great talent who illustrated some of the finest botanical works in Germany of the period. Nissen in his publication 'Die botanische Buchillustration' speaks highly of him 'seine Tafeln... verdienen volles Lob'.
