excellent colouring of the plates

A rare and beautifully produced work. Ludwig Gottlieb Scriba (1736-1804) was a German clergyman-naturalist, a phenomenon so charcteristic of the age of Enlightenment. With exception of one, the plates depict caterpillars, butterflies and beetles. A fine copy with excellent colouring of the plates.

Provenance: Bookplates of R. Friedländer & Sohn and Lionel George Higgens.
