rare catalogue of the plants growing in the Florence Botanical Garden

A fine copy of this rare catalogue of the plants growing in the Florence Botanical Garden. Xaviero Manetti was director of the garden from 1742 to 1782. The catalogue lists some 1200 plants, with an appendix of 325 newly introduced species. Manetti was instrumental in introducing the Linnaean system into Italy. Manetti is better known for his magnificent work on birds 'Storia naturale degli Uccelli' (1767-76).
